Qvale, a 6-foot-11 senior center from Williston, N.D., is the league's all-time blocks leader after passing former Grizzly Daren Engellant this season. Qvale has 239 blocks in his career, 27 more than Engellant. He blocked 87 shots during the regular season, six behind the conference record.
The center helped Montana finish the season second in the Big Sky standings, leading the conference in several team defensive categories including defensive points allowed per game (60.6), defensive field goal percentage (.399) and blocks (4.9).
Qvale also became the 26th Griz player to hit the 1,000-point mark for his career when he scored 12 on Saturday against Eastern Washington. He now has 1,004 career points.
